Social Development
 Since the end of a devastating civil war in 1992, El Salvador has made progress towards better education and health conditions, particularly in rural areas. However there remains work to be done and socially conscious business development has a big part to play. Coffee, being labour intensive and located in rural areas, has the potential to be a major force in improving lives.
Aventura Latina only sources coffee from companies and cooperatives that support the ongoing development of the communities and environments that depend on coffee for their livelihood. The Coex Group is one such company which has permanent projects to improve the health, education and environment of the communities that support it.
 Aventura Latina seeks to develop a permanent market here in Australia for coffee from the Coex Group to provide further stimulus to the improvement of the lives in rural El Salvador.
Coex Educational Scholarships
To Coex, education is a major part of contributing to the local community in El Salvador. Together with UNICEF and Fepade (a Salvadorian business foundation promoting education projects), Coex contributes significantly to education scholarships, or 'Edubecas'.
Through this program in 2009, Coex sponsored the studies of 75 children by funding both the costs of studies and books. In addition Coex helped its own workers to apply for Edubecas which resulted in another 63 children from Coex families to be successful in gaining scholarships.
